Sefer Menuchas Asher, a compilation of novella on Talmudic topics arranged alphabetically, authored by the renowned Holy Gaon Rabbi Asher Anshel Halevi Jungreis, Rabbi of Csenger

Volume I (letters Alef–Kaf). Published by the author’s sons. Máramarosszige, 1876. First Edition.

At the bottom of the title page’s border, there is the signature of Rabbi Moshe Nathan Neta Halevi Jungreis, son of the author and Rabbi of Tiszaújfalu (Tisza-Füred). This signature serves to certify that the sefer is not stolen.

On the title page, there is a distinct signature of Rebbi Menachem Binyamin Ben Zion Rottenberg- Halberstam, known as the Sanzer Rebbe in New York. Two handwritten glosses, in his Holy handwriting, appear in the margins of the sefer.

The author- Rabbi Asher Anshel Halevi Jungreis (1806–1873) was the author of Menuchas Asher and Rabbi of Csenger for 40 years. He was a kabbalist, a healer, and a wonder worker renowned for his profound knowledge of medicine and his ability to compose amulets and remedies. People from across the region sought him out for blessings and medical guidance when other remedies had failed.

He was a disciple of Rabbi Meir Eisenstadt (Rabbi Meir Ash) of Ungvar and Rabbi Koppel Charif of Verbo. Admired by leading Chassidic figures, he corresponded extensively on Kabbalah with Rabbi Meir of Premishlan, who remarked that Rabbi Jungreis prayed according to all the mystical intentions of the Arizal. Rabbi Chaim Yosef of Pistin, a student of the Kedushas Levi and the Baal HaTanya, said of him:

"In the entire Hungarian region, I have not found a greater kabbalist than him. The writings of the Arizal are fluent in his mouth, in the tradition of the Baal Shem Tov’s disciples."

Many of his miraculous deeds and teachings are documented in the prefaces to his works and in other works(Niflaos Asher, Toldos Anshei Mofes, Beis Asher – Ohel Sarah, Rabban U’Moshe’an Shel Yisrael).

Rabbi Jungreis’s passing was extraordinary: while teaching a Talmudic class, he reached the phrase "When Moses ascended to the heavens" (Shabbat 88b), recited the Shema, and his soul ascended to the heavenly realms.

His works, including Menuchas Asher, were published posthumously. His descendants served as prominent rabbis in Hungary for generations.

His Son -Rabbi Moshe Nathan Neta Halevi Jungreis (1832–1889), author of Menuchas Moshe, was a saintly figure and a renowned wonder worker, like his father. Born in Mattersdorf, he later became Rabbi of Tiszaújfalu, where he led with distinction until his passing.

His epitaph reads:

"Our teacher and rabbi, the famous, righteous, and pious scholar, who raised students and performed miracles in Israel, Rabbi Moshe Nathan Neta Halevi, Rabbi of our community, son of the illustrious Rabbi Asher Anshel Halevi Jungreis of Tchenger."

Many sought his blessings and guidance, and numerous miraculous stories about him are recorded in Toldos Anshei Mofes.

Rebbi Menachem Binyamin Ben Zion Halberstam Rottenberg (1881–1957), known as the Sanzer Rebbe of New York, was a scion of the illustrious Sanz and Kshanov (Chrzanów) dynasties. He was the grandson of Rebbi Aharon of Biala-Bilitz, Rebbi Yosef Zev of Kshanov, and Rebbi David of Kshanov, who was a son of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. His maternal lineage included Rabbi Alter Chaim of Walbrum, and he adopted the Rottenberg surname from this branch.

The Rebbe emigrated to the United States, where he established his court and became a leader in the Chassidic community. He also served as president of the Agudas HaAdmorim (Union of Rebbes).
