A rare and historic letter from Rabbi Yisrael Gershon Soloveitchik, written on the eve of the Holocaust, regarding an attempt to rescue his son by requesting that the Manchester Yeshiva bring him to England.

Signed: "Yisrael Gershon HaLevi Soloveitchik, son of my revered father, the pious and great Torah leader, Rabbi Chaim of Brisk, of blessed memory."

His letters are extremely rare!

The Gaon Rabbi Yisrael Gershon Soloveitchik Hy”d (1875–1941)
 was the eldest son of Rabbi Chaim of Brisk. He was born in Volozhin and had the privilege of serving his grandfather, the renowned "Beit HaLevi", in the city of Brisk. After his marriage, he lived in Brisk and became known as a righteous scholar, proficient in Jewish law. He was tragically murdered along with most of his family in the Holocaust at the hands of the Nazis.

His Children:

Rabbi Ze’ev (Velvel) Soloveitchik – A Torah giant who completely detached himself from worldly matters. He took upon himself self-imposed exile for several years, during which he studied the entire Talmud.

Rabbi Moshe Soloveitchik (1916–1995) – As a young man, he escaped to Switzerland along with Rabbi Aharon Leib Shteinman, in order to evade conscription into the Polish army. He was the sole survivor of his father’s household, as all other family members perished in the Holocaust, Hy”d. After the war, he spread Torah in Switzerland and became the leading halachic authority for the entire Torah world in Europe.
