Letters by him are extremely rare and has only appeared once at a public auction.
Rabbi Shabtai HaKohen Rappaport was the son of the wealthy Rabbi Avraham Abele HaKohen of Biała, a direct descendant of the renowned Shach. He was the son-in-law of the saintly Rabbi Avraham Chaim Reuven Rottenberg, Av Beit Din of Włodzisław. After his father-in-law’s passing in 1917, he succeeded him in that position. Later, in 1935, he was elevated to serve as the rabbi of Pińczów, a city where his ancestors had held the rabbinate for generations.
He opposed immigration to the Land of Israel, stating: "We have been commanded by the Tannaim and Amoraim, as brought in the Talmud and Midrashim, not to hasten the End of Days, even through physical means or strategic efforts. Thank God, we are under the protection of our esteemed government."
Author of Siftei Kohanim (Bilgoraj, 1936). He is referenced in the responsa Avnei Nezer and Ohel Moshe. He perished in the Holocaust, may God avenge his blood.
