An English silver-plated Challah tray from the second half of the 20th century, characterized by its elegant craftsmanship and religious symbolism.

The tray features two loaves of Challah in a raised relief design, symbolizing the traditional double portion of bread for Shabbat. Foliate, grapevine and motifs of clusters of grapes adorn the border, symbolizing abundance, blessings, joy, and the fruit of the vine, often associated with Kiddush wine.

Hebrew Text is prominently displayed at the top and bottom of the tray. "Lechivod Shabat Kodesh" at top and below "Zachor Es Yom Hashabos LeKadsho" referencing the sanctity of Shabbat.

The repoussé (raised) work and detailed embellishments are indicative of mid-20th-century design trends, originating from Germany and Hungary in Silver and later reproduced in England in silver plating.

This tray served as both a practical piece for holding Challah and a decorative element, reflecting the reverence and beauty of Shabbat rituals. Its English origin adds to its unique character,   blending the silver-plating techniques of the local craftsmanship with Jewish cultural traditions.
