This weighty copper washing cup, crafted in Poland/Ukraine in the 19th century, is a remarkable piece of functional artistry. Its sturdy design is enriched by a unique fish motif intricately formed into the base, a symbol common in the Jewish tradition representing prosperity.

The cup bears the marks of time, having been excavated from the ground. Corrosion caused by prolonged burial resulted in puncture marks on the fish motif, which had been crafted from thinner material due to the artist's meticulous hammering technique. The cup's rich patina and solid construction speak to its age and historical importance.

17cm H., x 20cm W., x 13.2cm D.

Good Condition, some small holes in the fish form at bottom of washing cup.
