A silver Torah shield, circa 1900. The centerpiece features a finely detailed Torah ark, showcasing the Ten Commandments and containing a miniature Torah scroll. Beneath this, a compartment is designed to hold plaques identifying the Jewish holidays. The composition is flanked by two tapering, round, curved-paneled pillars, adding depth and elegance to the design.
The edges of the shield are framed with repoussé scrolling foliate patterns, creating a harmonious and ornate border. Above the ark, two rampant lions hold up an imperial crown, symbolizing strength and divine sovereignty. The crown is adorned with beadwork and foliate arches, interspersed with a hung bell. At the very top, a globe-shaped monde serves as a crowning element. The shield is affixed with a chain on the back, allowing it to hang gracefully on the Torah scroll.
