Printed in 1818–1820 by Rabbi Yisrael son of Rabbi Yitzchak Yaffe (one of the foremost students of the Alter Rebbe) in Kapust.
Two volumes in two parts. Some letters on the title page of part one were printed in red ink. Printed on blue paper. This edition was based on the Slavuta edition (1807–1810).
The endorsement of Rabbi Yehuda Leib (the Maharil of Yanovitch), author of She’erit Yehuda, brother of the Alter Rebbe (author of the Tanya and the Shulchan Aruch), appears after the title page of part one. The content of the endorsement: “Printing seforim is not prohibited due to the violation of boundaries, nor by any general regulation, but rather due to the decree of those giving the endorsement, which only applies in their jurisdiction and not in another region, even within the same empire. Particularly if the first printer did something improper" (She’erit Yehuda, new edition, New York, 2009, p. 276-277, note 1). The content of the endorsement is also mentioned in the Responsa Tzemach Tzedek (Yoreh De’ah, section 195, p. 15/63): "As my uncle, the great Rabbi Yehuda Leib z"l, has brought…".
On the title page of part one is the signature of the renowned Rabbi Chaim Davidsohn, Av Beit Din of Warsaw. On the flyleaf is a note of ownership indicating the sefer belongs to him.
Rabbi Chaim Davidsohn Otzar HaRabbanim 5945) was born in 1760 in Pinchow, to his father, Rabbi David Tevel. A student of Rabbi Yaakov of Lissa (author of Netivot HaMishpat), he became a famous Torah scholar and a wealthy man. He led the Jewish community of Warsaw and Poland and was one of the prominent rabbis who supported the Polish Uprising. In 1839, after the passing of the Chemdat Shlolmo Rabbi Chaim was appointed Chief Rabbi and Av Beit Din of Warsaw, a position he held for 14 years. Despite his advanced age, he remained energetic and active until his last days. He passed away in Adar 1854 at the age of 94.
