This silver container from Vienna, with silver marks for 1854, is a finely crafted piece, exhibiting the ornate and intricate details characteristic of the Baroque style. The container features elaborate scrolling motifs, and figural elements, all meticulously embossed into the silver. The surface has a rich patina, highlighting the intricate details and adding a sense of history. The container is lidded, raised on four claw feet, a melon finial serving as a decorative element at top with a stylized leaf attached to its vine.
The craftsmanship reflects the high standards of Viennese silversmiths of the period, showcasing both artistic flair and technical precision.
Engraved underneath the container is the family history of the Rautenberg family from the great Granmother( Ur-Urgrossmutter) through the mother (Mutter) of the person this container belonged to dating from 1785 to 1933.
