This is the second printing of the first edition, released in two versions, with minor differences between them. The title page of the Nezikin order, in particular, was specially printed with the words "Mishnayot – Seder Nezikin" and the header in gold and copper tones.
The Segulah qualities and blessings associated with the Komarna sefoerim are well known, with many regarding them as protective amulets and sources of blessing.
The Rebbe of Komarna authored three commentaries on the Mishnah, which blend interpretations, allusions, and halachic insights based on Kabbalah. His main commentary, Atzei Eden, covers almost the entire Six Orders (ending partway through Oholot) and synthesizes Mishnah commentaries, divided into two sections: Etz HaChayim and Etz HaDa’at. Additionally, he authored Ma’aseh Oreg on the Jerusalem Talmud and the Tosefta linked to the Mishnah, and Pnei Zaken, which includes halachic conclusions based on the Rambam’s views.
The introductions of the author are printed at the beginning of Part I (Zeraim) and Part VI (Taharot). In the introduction to the Taharot order, he mentions his intent to explain the Tosefta according to the Rambam’s foundation, noting his respectful yet insightful debates with various commentaries, including that of the Vilna Gaon on the Tosefta of the Taharot order.
The Rebbe Yitzchak Isaac Yehuda Yechiel Safrin (1806-1874), a prominent figure in Kabbalah and a significant disciple of the Baal Shem Tov’s teachings, was revered by Hasidic leaders. He authored numerous Hasidic and Kabbalistic works, including Heichal HaBracha on the Torah, a foundational text in Hasidic and Kabbalistic thought. His writings were particularly cherished by various Hasidic circles.
Included with this set is an additional page with scholarly insights on Atzei Eden from a Jerusalem sage, written on the reverse of a ‘Machtzit HaShekel’ sheet.
