Sefer Likkutei Amarim Tanya from the Admor HaZaken, published by Kehat, 10th Shvat 1990.
For the 10th of Shvat 1990, the 40th year of the Rebbe’s leadership, the Rebbe ordered a special (enlarged) printing of the Tanya. A huge number of people showed up to celebrate (around 12,000 people!), from all over the world.
On the inside of the cover of the Kuntress the name of the recipient is inscribed, alongside the date: 10th of Shevat, 1990 when the Kuntress and the dollar were received.
On the 10th of Shvat the Rebbe drove to the Ohel. After he returned from the Ohel he entered the synagogue for mincha and maariv. The Admor davened mincha in front of the amud. After mincha he went up to the bimah to pray maariv, had a sicha for a few minutes, in which he discussed “Vayehi b’Arbaim Shana”, “Lev Lada’at”, and then he went down to start the chaluka.
It began at 7:10pm (approx.). At the beginning it was disorganized and many “ozrim” and “mesadrim” stood around the Rebbe. He turned to them, gave them the Tanya, and motioned to them to leave his side, and said that he could take care without them. In the middle of the chaluka there was a “balagan” and some pushing and shouting—the Rebbe turned to his secretary and asked what was happening and to get organized. Someone stood on a table and motioned that the Rebbe would leave and after a few minutes things got organized. (From the Mazkeret Netzach Chalukot Chabad).
