Born in Munkatch, he dedicated himself to the service of G-d from his youth, serving Him in holiness and purity. He was a disciple of the Bnei Yisaschar and Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac of Zidichov. A great Kabbalist, he edited Rebbi Yehuda Tzvi of Rozdol’s sefer Amud HaTorah. His nephew and disciple, the Imrei Yosef of Spinka, writes in his introduction to Likutei Torah, that Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac edited and organized Rabbi Yitzchak of Zidichov’s sefarim and according to the will of Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac, received these manuscripts.

Rabbi Kalman wasn’t alive anymore when he married, but his Mother-in-law the tzaddekes Rachel Sima sustained them for 17 years so he could immerse himself fully in Torah & Avodah.
