Machzor Part I, Per the Polish Custom. Venice, 1567. Very Rare!
Machzor for the whole year, per the communities in Pihem, Poland and Mehrin, with all the parashahs and the haftarahs with vowelization and cantillation, and with a commentary and word elucidations unknown until now.
Part I [including the Sabbath prayers, Yotzrot for the whole year, Holiday prayers].
Venice, Di Cavalli Press, 1567. Incomplete copy.
Includes new and lengthy commentary on prayers and poems containing the commentaries printed in the Savionita-Cremona editions and the 1549-1550 Prague Machzor. Laws which were printed in Machzor of Rosh HaShanah are named Ma’agalei Tzedek. [In some of the following editions the entire Machzor is called Ma’agalei Tzedek].
Especially important machzor, primarily based on the Sabbiotena-Cremona machzor of 1567-1560, with supplements. Several subsequent editions call the commentary printed in it "Ma’agalei Tzeddek."
That same year, the same press printed a similar machzor according to the Ashkenaz custom, which is also rare. But the present Pihem, Poland and Mehrin custom is exceedingly rare! Has only appeared once at public auction (also a lacking copy).
Present copy has 229 out of the 240 leaves (lacking 11 leaves), mispaginated.
Overall in fair condition, old paper repairs & wear. damage to many headings & footers, stains, lacking front cover & spine.
