Remarkable Chevra Kadisha Goblet is set on a stepped dome circular base decorated with foliate scrolling and beaded borders. A part fluted knopped dual spool shaped stem supporting a tulip formed cup. Broad domed lower section decorated with sprouting foliate scrolling and vacant oval medallions. Upper section is encircled by a beaded border and has a flaring lip.
Dedication at center engraved in Hebrew reads, "A cup of salvation in loving memory to our trusted healer, Doctor Max Freund". " From the Chevra Kadisha (sacred society) from the town of Bonn, (Germany) in the year of 1904"
There are many Pieces of Antique Judaica which were made in Germany, this is well known. The fact that this piece was engraved by the Chevra Kadisha and given to a patron from this particular city of Bonn, Germany is extremely rare not many pieces are known to have these particular attributes.
