Elegantly designed cup is set on a circular stepped domed base with bordered foliate scrolling on lower base. Gadroon repoussé lower body tapers into a tri-waisted baluster center with harmonious foliate chased scrolling at top rim. Auriform handle is beautifully chased to what appears to be a snake coiling around a vine with its head ever slightly spilling over the lip.
Dedication in Hebrew on upper body reads, "To Naftali Hertz son of Avraham Halevi, from his grandfather Moshe the son of Rav Neftali " dated " Sabbath 25th of Elul 1824".
Later dedication on Lower body reads, "From Julia Levy to her grandson Henry D’arcy Hart, 19th March 1866.
Fully Hallmarked on outer upper body.

Naftali Hirtz (Jams Levy Hart) Levy. Was born in 1824 (Geni mistakenly records 1828)
& this is his Bris cup which was given to him by his grandfather Moshe Ben Naftali on Shabbos 25th of Elul 1824.
His son Henry D\'arcy Hart married Ethel Montagu, daughter of Samuel Montagu. He was a qualified barrister who became a listed artist.
