Textile bag stunningly embroidered with flower scrolling overlooking an ocean in gold colored thread on both sides. Center of embroidery features a soaring phoenix with wings spread in flight. Maze like designs sown in to the edges, border the center embroidery. Five tassels are sown in to the edges with two entwined rope handles made to carry the tefillin bag.

A Unique Embroidered Tallit Bag Austria -Hungary circa 1900

Elaborate laurel leaves and foliate designs frame the edges of the embroidered felt Tallit bag. An embroidered Star of David adorns the center surrounding the letters ‘Yud’ and ‘Tzadik’. An embroidered foliate capped Crown flanked by numerous ruby and diamond stone gems between the embroidered letters ‘Kaf’ and ‘Tav’ at top center. At bottom center, the most interesting spelling of the word Tallit spelled ‘תאליס’ which is generally most commonly spelled ‘טלית’ is similarly embroidered. A flap at top folds back with two button clasps attached to the corners of the flap and closes at the back of the bag.

Overall Good condition, bag shows signs of use, some strings to lettering and embroidery frayed.
