The famous Gaon Rabbi Yechiel Yaakov Weinberg (1884-1966), a student of the Yeshivos of Mir and Slabodka. Rabbi at Pilvishak for a short period, but during WWI moved to Germany and from 1925 headed the Berlin Rabbinerseminar. During WWII he was deported to Poland and suffered Nazi persecution. After liberation, he settled in Switzerland, where he remained active in orthodox Jewish affairs. Author of Seridei Eish and Liperakim.

The Gaon Rabbi Chaim Shmuel Lopian, the son of the Tzaddik gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Lupian and the Rosh Yeshiva of Netzach Yisroel in Sunderland, author of Sefer Ravcha Deshmateta on Shev Shmateta.
