Unlike most of the manuscripts that exist in the world today, which are copies that he copied for himself, the letter before us is an original letter sent to Gaon of Tallya.
The Famous Gaon Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Glick av”d Tolcsva, author of Yad Yitzchak (1826-1909) was a prominent Hungarian rabbi and leading halachic decider. He zealously battled the Neologs. He was a son-in-law of Rabbi Yeshayah Banet, av”d Kalev, son of the Maharam Banet. He published the Shu”t Parshat Mordechai of his grandfather-in-law, Maharam Banet, with his Be’er Yitzchak comments on Tractates Gittin and Chullin and the "Yad Yitzchak" Shu”t, containing 900 responses to the questions of rabbis from all over Hungary and Transylvania.
The Gaon Rabbi Gershon Litsch Segal Rosenbaum (1837-1901) was circumcised by the Chasam Sofer himself. A student of the Ksav Sofer and the Mahari Asad. he served as AB"D of Tallya from 1870.
He authored Responsa Meishiv Devarim and Devarim Nichochim on Talmud
(HaChasam Sofer VeTalmidav, page 486, Pinkas HaMohel Chasam Sofer, Page 567).
In the Hungarian Rabbonim’s approbations of sefer Meshiv Devarim Responsa, they describe him as a ‘high level Tzaddik and a ‘Tzaddik Yesod Olam’!
