Leaf with calligraphic script, decorated in colored ink – letter of good year wishes for the upcoming new year of 1892-, from the trustees of Kollel Shomrei Hachomos, Jerusalem, [Elul 1891?].
Addressed to the treasurer of the Kollel, Rabbi Berish Avraham Banet Rabbi of Kalev Signed by the trustees and directors of the Kollel, R. Tuviah Aryeh Goldberger and R. David Yoles
R. Tuvia Aryeh Goldberger, a leading rabbi and communal worker in Jerusalem. A disciple of R. Yirmiyah Löw Rabbi of Ujhel. He immigrated to Jerusalem in 1873, and was part of the initial group of dayanim in the Chassidic Beit Din in Jerusalem (lead by the Torat Chessed, Gaon of Lublin). He was an activist of Kollel Hungary and served as its trustee for twenty-three years together with R. Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld.
The second signatory Rabbi David Yoles was a son in law of the Gain Rabbi Abraham Shag. Please see Hebrew description for his biography.
The recipient the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Berish Avraham Banet son of the Gaon Rabbi Yeshayah Banet Av Beis Din of קאליב, son of the Gadol, the Gaon Rabbi Mordechai Banet- Av Beis Din of Nikolsburg (Mikulov). Born in 1826, he served as Av Beis Din of קאליב from 1864 until his passing in 1902 . He upheld a large Yeshiva in קאליב and spread Torah to his Talmidim [See: Yeshivos Hungaria Page 304, Hatzaddik MiKalov VeKehillaso pages 152-156].
