Cyril J. Ross was a well-known Jewish philanthropist, patron of the arts and a talented painter. He was treasurer of the Ben Uri Art Society and treasurer of the Zangwill Fellowship. He had also served as treasurer of the Jewish National Fund. He achieved distinction with a series of oil paintings in traditional style which were exhibited in London and in Paris.
