This brown-glazed earthenware plate is from Russia and dates to the 19th century. In raised Hebrew lettering it states in Yiddish "Bread, meat, and fish bring happiness to the table".

In the collection of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, there is another example of this plate with the same Yiddish verse on the rim, but a different center scene.

Condition: Chips, cracks and repairs.
