The wedding took place in Sighet on the 14th of Sivan, 1919. The Chassan studied in the Yeshivah of the Atzei Chaim who then chose him as his son-in-law. Years later, his father-in-law appointed him as Rav of Slotfina (Slatina).
A poetic acrostic, spelling the initials of the chassan and kallah appears at the beginning of the invitation. It closes with the Admor’s blessing, “Who looks forward to greeting you and who prays for your peace and success all the years.”
The Chassan Rabbi Hayim Itzchak Isaac Halberstam of Slatina was born in 1899, son of Rabbi Yehoshua, Head of the Beit Din of Dolina (son of Moshe of Bardijov, son of Rebbe Baruch of Gorlitz, son of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz), and the son-in-law of the author of “Atzei Chaim” of Siget. From 1925 he served as rabbi of Slatina (near Sziget), where he established a large yeshiva and was very admired by the community. He died in the Holocaust in 1943 Hy”d.
