The Holy Admor Rebbi Shalom Eliezer Halberstam (1862-1944) is a genius in Torah and measurements, a supreme saint. Tales of holiness, celibacy and the worship of God were connected to him. Many Jews from all over Hungary  flocked to his home in Raztfert and were saved by his blessings. The youngest son of the holy Rebbe, Rabbi Chaim Halberstam, the author of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, and the grandson of Rabbi Yechiel Zvi Unger of Torna, who was only 14 years old when his father died, But he was young enough to receive from his holy father. Soon after his marriage he moved to Hornisteople and stayed there for about ten years.

 

Returning to Galicia and settled in Torna, where he began with Admorot. After eleven years he moved to Ratzfratt, Hungary, where he served as Rebbe to thousands of Chasidim. Before the deportation of the community to Auschwitz he told his sons that his father had been revealed to him in a dream and that he was given the opportunity to be saved or to die for Kiddush Hashem. Rabbi Shalom Eliezer accepted the second option and did not leave his congregation. Before being thrown into the fire furnaces he asked for a Talit. He wrapped himself in a Talit and marched proudly to the death chambers. May Hashem avenge his blood. His sons: Rabbi Chaim of Satmar and Rabbi Meshulam Zusia. His son-in-law: Rabbi Ben Tzion of Bobov, Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Teitelbaum of Seagate, Rabbi Menachem Mender of Kaminka and Rabbi Yisrael Tzvi Makani. (Atsei Chasidut p. 679).
