Interesting letter to the Gaon Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger the Lev Ha’ivri.

The Gaon Rabbi Moshe (Mozes) Chaim Segal Litch-Rosenbaum (1864-1943) was the Av Beit Din of Kleinwardein (Kisvárda). He was the son of Rabbi Gershon of Pressburg, the Av Beit Din of Talia and the son-in-law of Rabbi Pinchas Chaim Klein, the Av Beit Din of Salaj. Rabbi Moshe studied under the author of Shevet Sofer, Rabbi Shaul Ehrenfeld, the Av Beit Din of Szikszó and Rabbi Eliezer Lowe, the Av Beit Din of Uhely and Ungvar. From 1888 he was Av Beit Din in Șimleu and later the rabbi of Kisvárda until his passing.

Among his Seforim are Lechem Rav, Leviyat Chen and others. His character and actions are described in the Sefer ‘The Tzadik of Kleinwardein’.

The famous Gaon and Tzadik Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger (1837-1922), studied under the Ksav Sofer, Maharam Schick and Rabbi Chaim Sofer – Machneh Chaim. Son-in-law of Rabbi Hillel Lichtenstein of Kolomea.

Settled in Jerusalem in 1870 and actively promoted Yishuv Eretz Yisrael including the establishment of orthodox Jewish settlements, while strongly against secular education and other changes to tradition. Author of Lev Ha’ivri and other works.
