Harav Avraham Tzahalon was the first of the Arizal’s students to print the teachings of the Arizal.
Marpeh Lanefesh was the first of the Arizal’s writings to be published. [other then Shabbos Piyutim]

The following appears on the title page,
"Rectifications and healings for the spirit, from the divine Kabbalist Harav Yitzchak Luria Ashkenazi z"l… never before revealed since the days of Rabi Shimon bar Yochai z"l."

Printed in two columns. Above one side appears the title: "Words of the Rabbi and Divine Kabbalist; Harav Yitzchak Luria Ashkenazi." The second column is entitled: "Words of the Young One; Avraham ben Yitzchak Tzahalon."

Marpeh Lanefesh was authored by
Harav Avraham Tzahalon, ( -1600) grandson of Harav Yitzchak Karo — author of Toldos Yitzchak and a relative of the Beis Yosef. He was a disciple of the Arizal in Tzfas and was forced to travel to Italy in order to support himself, and there he printed his works Marpeh Lanefesh, Yad Charutzim, and Yesha Elokim in his old age.
