Dam Brit – anthology of rabbinic responsa about metzitzah using an instrument called "certisaferatush, " with an explanation of the instrument and its method of usage and ten pictures of the circumcision instrument, by R’ Alexander Tertis, chief mohel of London.
London, 1900. Only edition. Rare and interesting composition. The research and responsa in this sefer remain pertinent today.
Before us is a rare work on the halachah of metzitzah in particular, and topics regarding ritual circumcision in general. In the book, he cites letters from rabbis that approved and even encouraged use of this instrument, alongside the controversy on the subject. He also brings laws and details on the topic of ritual circumcision according to halachic adjudicators and medicine, and how to be protected from all distress during circumcision. The instrument was invented after several children in Britain passed away following ritual circumcision.
