Rebbe Yaakov Aryeh Twersky of Trisk-London (1884-1979), prominent rebbe in England and Eretz Israel. Born in Trisk to Rebbe Mordechai Zusia Twersky grandson of Rebbe Avraham Twersky the Maggid of Trisk. On his mother’s side, he was a grandson of Rebbe Yitzchak Friedman of Bohush-Ruzhin. Served as rebbe in Zinkov and Kamenets-Podolsk. After WWI, he fled to Vienna and Berlin, eventually reaching London where he established a large Chassidic court, the first in England. He was renowned for his outstanding love for his fellow Jew and exceptional hospitality – his home in London was always open to all and filled with guests from various countries. He immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1964, and established his court in Bnei Brak.
