The Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky (1886-1976), studied at the Yeshivos of Novaradok, Telz, Rameiles – Vilna and at the ‘Kibbutz’ of Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzenski. Rabbi of Smolian and Slutzk. Arrested by the Russian authorities for his religious activities and released in 1932 and left Russia for London where he was appointed Rabbi of the Machzikei Hadass, and subsequently as Dayan and Rosh Beth Din. Settled in Eretz Yisrael in 1951, and served as Rosh Yeshivas Slabodka and Head of Vaad Hayeshivos. A leading contemporary rabbinic authority and author of Chazon Yechezkel, a multi-volume commentary on the Tosefta, as well as other publications.
