Emil Freund Active 1922-1935.

This handsome Hanukkah lamp is decorated in neoclassical style. It features a pair of Lions of Judah flanking a center representation of the Temple Menorah, which is all done by hand utilizing the techniques of chasing and repousse. Most unusually, the feet this lamp rests on are in the form of Roman columns, which could be a reference to the Pillars of Solomon, from the First Temple in Jerusalem.

German hallmarks of 800, crown and moon are on the base, along with two makers marks that we cannot identify, but are typical of the large amounts of currently unidentified marks of silversmiths working in late 19th century Hanau.

Weight 449 Grams, 24 cm tall.
