The Gaon and Tzadik Rabbi Binyamin Shlomo Zalman Spitzer was

born in Alt-Ofen in 1826, he was the son-in-law of the ”Chasam Sofer” and authored the Sefer of sermons and innovations "Tikkun Shlomo".

A leading disciple of the Maharam Schick in his Beis Midrash in Hust and the disciple of the Mahram Ash in Ungvar and of his future brother-in-law, the "Kesav Sofer" of Pressburg. Since 1852, he was the leader of the Pressburg community in Vienna and since 1858 served as Av Bet Din of Vienna. In 1872, he departed from his community, the ‘Adat Yisrael’ community, the general Jewish community of Vienna. After his passing in 1893, he was buried in Pressburg.
