The Alter Rebbe’s Siddur, ‘Torah Ohr’

Torah Ohr im Sha’ar HaKolel – prayer service per the text of the Ariza"l. With all the laws and customs as founded and determined … by Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi.

Vilna, Rom Press. 1896.Two parts.

Subsequent editions were printed according to this edition.
This siddur was arranged by Rabbi Avraham David Lavot and divided into two separate parts.

The first part includes the Nusach printed in the first CHABAD siddurim, printed during the Alter Rebbe’s lifetime, and most of the printing errors in previous editions were also corrected.

With the addition of sources for biblical verses and sayings of the Sages, it was therefore called Siddur Torah Ohr. Page 72 bears a prayer for the welfare of the czar.

The second part is a supplement that was not in the initial siddurim.
The siddur opens with approbation from Rabbi Y. L. of Yanovitz, brother of the Ba’al HaTanya.

The first part has two title pages, the first of which is short: ‘New Revised Edition, ‘ and some of which is printed in red ink.

The Bibliography of the Hebrew Book reports that they only saw one title page; apparently, the first title page was lacking. Additional title page for the second part.

Vilna, 1896. Hasidur number 98.

Original cloth binding leather rubbed spine.
A good sound copy.
