Americana Grouping of Jewish Household Goods, 1930's through 1950's
Americana Grouping of Jewish Household Goods, 1930's through 1950's This grouping of household goods is a "time-capsule" of the Jewish experience in America during 1930's through the 1950's. The three containers in the center are of the earliest era, and detail their contents in English on one side, and Yiddish on the other side. Another example of the round scouring powder container by the Rokeach company was on display in an 1991 exhibition in the Jewish museum of New York. It can be seen in the accompanying exhibit publication "Getting Comfortable in New York: The American-Jewish Home, 1880 - 1950".

A Gold Filigree Gemstone Wedding Ring
A Gold Filigree Gemstone Wedding Ring This 14k gold Jewish wedding ring takes it's design inspiration from antique German and Italian Jewish wedding rings. Those rings, like this one, feature what appears to be a house, but scholars believe either represent a palace or castle, alluding to a "dream" for the new couple to achieve success in life, or, it depicts King Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem. The side "roof" with the red stone opens up! Because this is made of spun gold filigree, with believe this is Israeli in origin, likely made by a talented Sephardic artisan.

Colored Stencil Mizrach or Sheviti
Colored Stencil Mizrach or Sheviti This multi-colored stencil draws it's design inspiration from the popular "papercuts" that were made by Jewish artisans in Eastern Europe. Here it imitates those papercuts (many were designated for a mizrach or sheviti, like this example), with bold, 20th century colors such as orange and royal blue. Verses such as "Swift as a deer, light as an eagle, to do your will, Father in heaven" (Ethics of the fathers 5:21), are on the borders, along with a profile of a deer and bird above those excerpts.
