A Silver Hanukkah Lamp, Austria, Circa 1920
A Silver Hanukkah Lamp, Austria, Circa 1920 This silver chanukah lamp is almost regal in it's design. While the center Star of David decoration is typical, it is embellished with an engraved Star of David inside it. The lower shaft has stylized acanthus leaf decoration, and the base has chased swirls referencing Rococo. For the well-to-do Jews of Vienna. Fully hallmarked, circa 1920.

A Unusual Glazed Ceramic Wine Jug
A Unusual Glazed Ceramic Wine Jug This glazed ceramic wine jug has a semi-abstract depiction of the Wailing Wall on one side, and part of a Star of David along with the Hebrew words "Beloved Adar". There are no makers marks. We believe this is a vintage artist piece from Israel, likely from an artist colony at a kibbutz. From the stating of the month of Adar, perhaps this has an intended use to drink wine on Purim? Most unusual!

A Silver Yom Kippur Belt Buckle, seemingly Lemberg Early 19th Century
A Silver Yom Kippur Belt Buckle, seemingly Lemberg Early 19th Century This metallic thread on cotton woven belt has an attached two-part silver buckle. The buckle has dense engraving and matting in a "folk style" that is consistent with Jewish silversmith work of 18th and early 19th century Galicia. Both the buckle and belt are for use once a year, on Yom Kippur. While most Yom Kippur belt buckles have Hebrew engraving attesting to that, a handful of examples like this, with no Hebrew, are known to be made for Yom Kippur as well. For another two-part silver buckle with woven belt that lacks any Hebrew, see the book "Treasures of Jewish Galicia".
