Several Sephardi signatures.
R. Nosson Shapiro (d. 1666), was a Rav in Poland and one of the great Ashkenazi Kabbalists. After emigrating to Yerusholayim, he was sent as an emissary to Italy in the year 1655. It was there that he found that Italian Jewry was lax in many areas of observance. He attempted to remedy the situation by authoring these seforim. The lengthy introduction to the work includes earlier statements by a broad array of Rabbonim including the legendary R. Yehuda Lowey (MaHaRaL) of Prague.
R. Nosson Shapiro is considered one of the “Gurei Ha’Ari”- the repositors of the Kabbalistic tradition of the Arizal. He organized many of the “Kisvei Arizal” transmitted by R. Chaim Vital.
