Confirmation of the delivery of a Get. Jerusalem, 1897. 24 Cm.

The Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Salant (1816-1909), The acclaimed Rabbi of Jerusalem for over 70 years, and the leader of all Ashkenazic communities in the Land of Israel. Was famed as a Gaon and prodigy, already in his youth, At the age of Bar Mitzvah he received a letter from his Rav, Rabbi Abeli concerning a complicated divorce matter, indicating that his Rav trusted him as an outstanding Torah scholar even then. He Studied in the town of Salant with his friend the Gaon Rabbi Yisrael of Salant [founder of the Mussar Movement]. He immigrated to Eretz Yisrael in 1841, to serve as teacher and Rav of the "Prushim", disciples of Hagra, who lived in Jerusalem. Founded education and charity institutes in the city, founded a Beit Din and strengthened the Ashkenazic community.

The Gaon Rabbi Chaim Yaakov Shapiro (Circa 1832-1908 Served as Ravad of Jerusalem for 20 years under the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Salant.

The third signatory is the Gaon Rabbi Ephraim Binyamin Hochstein. When Rabbi Shmuel Salant became elderly he delegated his authority to the Rabbi Ephraim Binyamin Hochstein. Formerly the rabbi of Kaminka and one of the Torah greats of his generation. Rabbi Ephraim Binyamin agreed to this on the condition that an additional dayan would be attached to him and Rabbi Shmuel recommended Maran Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld for the task.
