When penning a responsum, in addition to sending it to the questioner, Rabbi Kluger would also record it in his ledger (pinkas), per the common practice. It is from pinkasim such as this one that the great collections of responsa were gathered and published. This page is from his personal Pinkas, part of a response, not signed.
The Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Kluger (1785-1869) was one of the greatest rabbis in the era of the Achronim, and served as Rav and Maggid in Brody for close to 50 years. He was one of the most prolific authors of Torah scholarship and wrote over 150 Torah works. Among his works are Chochmas Shlomo on Shulchan Aruch, Sefer Hachaim, Mei Nida, Nidrei Zrizin, Shu”t Tuv Taam V’da’as, Avodas Avodah, Shu”t HaElef Lecha Shlomo, and many others.
The holy tzaddik Rabbi Meir Premishlan expressed his admiration by saying: “Meir (referring to himself) sees in the heavens that they rule in the Heavenly Mesivta just like Rabbi Shlomo rules on the earth.”
