The Sefer Tehillim of the Chassidic Masters:
Sefer Tehillim with Diglei Hodaya V’Hamitzvah was the Tehillim preferred by the great Chassidic masters, many of whom davened and learned from this edition of Tehillim, which became known as a segulah. (See the approbations of the Maggid of Trisk and Rabbi Dovid of Tolna to the Josephov Edition, 1875.)
The present edition was printed anonymously, although the author’s name is mentioned in the later Josefov edition (1875).
Rabbi Yehuda Yudel Landau was a shochet u’bodek who spent many years in the home of the Admor Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin (Shu”t Birkas Yosef, Yoreh Deah Ch. 11). Rabbi Yudel ultimately journeyed to Eretz Yisrael where he passed away at an old age in the year 1885.
