The Gaon Rabbi Eliahu Menachem Gaitein (1798–1902) was the son of Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Gaitein and grandson of Rabbi Baruch Bendit Gaitein, author of Kesef Nivchar. He was a student of the Chatam Sofer and served as the Av Beit Din of Hőgyész, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.

The Gaon Rabbi Moshe Freund-Greisaber (1797–1863)  of Paks and a prominent opponent of the Haskalah movement.

The letter includes handwritten comments and notes by Rabbi Moshe Freund-Greisaber.
