R’ Chaim Tzvi Konikov wrote on the back of the paper stapled to the plastic which contains this Lag Ba’Omer coin as follows:
"I received this (coin) from the holy hands of his Honor and Holiness the Admor Shlit"a on the eve prior to the 18th day of Iyar, 5751, On Lag Ba’Omer on the fifth day of the week of Parshat Emor, Hod She’beHod in connection to Tiferet She’beTiferet".
The meaning of the phrase "In connection to" which is written by R’ Chaim was explained to me by his son Moshe:
When counting the Omer from day 1 to 49 Hod She’beHod comes out on day 33 and Tiferet She’beTiferet comes out on the 2nd day of Iyar. When counting backwards from 49 to 1 the traitsare switched so that Tiferet She’beTiferet comes out on the day of Lag BaOmer and Hod She’beHod comes out on the second day of Iyar.
The Second day of Iyar is the birth date of the Rebbe MaHarash. The Rebbe was known for the phrase "Lechatchilah Ariber" in Yiddish which means when facing a challenge in life a person should strive to grow further, way past the challenge.
In conclusion the second day of Iyar which is Tiferet She’beTiferet and the Birth date of the Rebbe MaHarash "is connected to" Lag Baomer when Counting the Sefirah backwards also is Tiferet She’beTiferet!
The Lubavitcher Rebbe wanted to Commemorate this Day, Event, and Phrase. He therefore Commissioned to have the words "Lechatchilah Ariber" minted on tthis particular Lag BaOmer coin.
The Lag BaOmer coin commissioned by the Rebbe in 1991 commemorates the holiday of Lag BaOmer, which is traditionally associated with the anniversary of the passing of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, a prominent sage and author of the Zohar, a foundational text of Kabbalah.
In 1990, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, known as the Rebbe of the Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic movement, commissioned a special coin to mark Lag BaOmer. This coin was likely designed to commemorate the spiritual and mystical significance of the day within Jewish tradition, particularly in the context of Kabbalistic teachings
