Prayer book for weekdays according to Sephardic custom, with laws, customs and Kabbalistic Kavanot. Also includes as a comprehensive commentary on the prayers by Kabbalist Rabbi Eliyahu Habillo of Sarajevo.

Livorno, 1794. Only Edition. Rabbi Yaakov Nunis Weiss and Rabbi Rephael Mildulah Press

At the top of the page is the printed version of the prayers with punctuation. Below this appears the elucidations and laws in a different font. The siddur includes a lengthy preface in which the author narrates his background, and relates about Livorno’s Jews.

P. 83b contains: Shiviti, Ten Sefirot, a LaMenatze’ach Menorah illustration, various verses and Kabbalistic combinations.

The last page contains a printed statement by the author "to notify of a major mistake". He discovered during the printing of the siddur that the book HaTzad Tzvi from which he quotes Kabbalistic novellae in the first part of the siddur, is an objectionable book whose author, Nechemia Hayun, was a banned Sabbatean. He writes not to believe teachings he quotes from HaTzad Tzvi on leaf 82 and p. 84a, lines 11, 36 and 41. All should be deleted as they originate from a banned apostate. He declares that he wrote and printed them in absolute innocence.

Siddur Avodas Hatamid is acclaimed as a very important sephardic siddur!

Rabbi Elisha Habillo was born in the mid-to-late 18th century in Sarajevo, ( former Yugoslavia). He was the prime disciple of Rabbi David Pardo and published his sefer Shafa’as Revivim. He spent a period of time in Italy and his lifelong yearning was to settle in Eretz Yisrael, although it is unclear if he ever fulfilled his dream. The year of his passing is likewise unknown. Rabbi Chananel Nifi, who was closely acquainted with Rabbi Elisha, wrote that “he was very humble” (see Toldos Gedolei Yisrael, Trieste 1853 p. 11). A list of his written legacy was published by Ben Menachem in Kovetz Sinai Vol. 60 p. 283-288.

Other Sephardic signatures.
