The Prayer Book was thoroughly proofread and edited seven times by Shmuel Rodriguez Mendez.

Amsterdam, 1726. At the press of the Doctor Naftali Hirtz son of Alexander Susskind Levi of Emden.

On pages 150-151 appears a special prayer in honor of those who were burned at stake by the Inquisition. Includes a prayer in memory of the Leaders of the Portuguese Community of Amsterdam, martyred by the Inquisition.


With the prayer Ha-noten teshuah la-melachim with Portuguese translation on page 90 & 152, 


Sephardi Prayer Book of the Marrano Community of Amsterdam. With a special prayer for those who were killed by the Inquisition, sanctifying G-d’s name.

Overall Good Condition, good quality paper, title page partly detached, marginal repairs to the firs 3 pages & page 23, marginal tears to page 19, usage stains, later binding.
