A piece of wood from the Shtender (lectern) on which the Rebbe stood during the early years of his leadership, from 1951 to 1955, when the Shtender was replaced with a new one.
As reflected in the picture of the Shtender currently in the Rebbe’s library, the Shtender was not well-constructed. One day, this piece of wood fell from the lectern. Rabbi K. then approached the secretary, Rabbi Chadakov, and asked if he could keep the piece of wood. Rabbi Chadakov responded that since the Rebbe intended to use a new Shtender Rabbi K. could take the wood.
It is clearly visible in the picture that this piece of wood is missing from the right side of the lectern.
A most rare opportunity to acquire such a holy and personal item, upon which the Rebbe served his creator with dedication for several years!
