The famous Gaon Rabbi Amram Blum (1834-1907) was a leading halachic authority in Hungary. Grandson of Rabbi Amram Chasida (Rosenbaum) Rabbi of Mád and Safed. Close disciple of Rabbi Meir Perles Rabbi of Karaly (Carei), and disciple of the Ketav Sofer and of the Machaneh Chaim.
He earnt the reputation of an outstanding Torah scholar already in his youth, and in 1858, he was appointed rabbi of Álmosd at the age of 22. In 1864, he went to serve as rabbi of Mád (where his grandfather R. Amram Chasida had previously served as rabbi). From 1881, he served as rabbi of Khust and from 1883, of Berettyóújfalu, a position he held for over 25 years. He was known as one of the most prominent responders in Hungary, and his seforim Responsa Beit She’arim contain over 1000 halachic responsa on all four parts of Shulchan Aruch.
Rabbi Yitzchak Ya’akov Blum (died 1938, Otzar HaRabbanim 10152), son of the renowned Torah genius Rabbi Amram Blum, author of “Beit She’arim” and son-in-law of Rabbi Zussman Eliezer Sofer Av Beit Din of Paks. Served as Rabbi of Nagyszentmiklós until 1888, when he was chosen as Dayan in Berettyóújfalu, by his father’s side who served there as Chief Av Beit Din. He wrote several works which were apparently lost during the Holocaust.
