Rebbe Yisrael Shalom Yosef Friedman (1855-1923), second rebbe of Bohush and author of Pe’er Yisrael, with his stamp featuring a lion emblem (stamp of the rebbes of the Sadigura-Ruzhin dynasty in those times). He was the great-grandson of Rebbe Yisrael of Ruzhin, and a leading Romanian rebbe.

Ownership ink-stamp on title-page (with a picture of an eagle) Rabbi "M.AL Alter Jones Rabbin Bacau" in Hebrew and in foreign letters.

Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Leib Alter (Baharav), (1810-1873), a leading rabbi in Moldova, maintained correspondence with the Malbim. He was born thanks to the blessing of Rebbe Chaim of Tchernovitz who blessed his father that thanks to his involvement in releasing captives, he would be given a son that will be an outstanding rabbi. He wrote Divrei Moshe, which contains laws of Brit Milah and halachic responsum.

Title page indicates "Berditchev Letters", see about this edition: Bibliography Institute CD, record 0106784, (according to A. Ya’ari, the Hebrew Printing in Berditchev, Kiryat Sefer, 21, 1944-1945, page 116). According to the approbations, the printer is Rabbi Yisrael B"K.
