Tractate Yevamot, Berlin & Franfurt-Am-Oder, 1735.


Long & important marginalia by the Gaon Rabbi Wolf Dreifuss. Some are signed Wolf D”f (Dreifuss).

The Gaon Rabbi Wolf Trivis-Dreifuss was born to his father R. Leib in 1782. He was a disciple of the Gaon Rabbi Abraham Naphtali Sheur rabbi of Mainz & of the famed Hamburg & Furth Yeshivot. He was active in the fight against the reformers.

From 1823-1831 he served as rabbi of Lengnau, Switzerland. From 1831-1834 he served as rabbi of nearby Endingen, in 1834 he returned to Lengnau until his passing in 1860.. He corresponded with Maran the Chasam Sofer.

Signature on the title page of his father Reb Leib (Leopold) Trivis who served as Rosh Hakohol in Lengnau.

Overall Great condition, some stains, marginal repair on title page, second and last page have small marginal tears, new later binding.
