This plate is hand engraved in a whimsical folk-art style. The center has the "Four Sons" mentioned in the Haggadah, each figure titled as such in addition to having the correlating verse from the Haggadah encircling them.
Direct your attention to how the wise son is dressed (upper right), as he is wearing a cloak and a flat hat called a barette, which is the Sabbath and holiday dress worn by German Jewish men during the 18th and early 19th centuries.
The wide outer rim of the plate has two bands of Hebrew engraving; the first, is the order of the Seder service, while the second states the three things that must be mentioned on Passover: "Pesach, Matzah, Maror", and indeed the depictions seen after these words are of the paschal lamb, matzah, and bitter herbs.
Finally, in a cartouche flanked by a pair of lions, are the husband and wife owners of this plate "Yakov / Pearla" and a Hebrew date of 1768.
