First published in Constantinople in 1514. The Sefer received much acceptance and therefore subsequently reprinted tens of times. Alluding to the seven-armed Menorah, he divided the Sefer into seven sections, each of which bears the title of Ner or “Lamp” and is subdivided into separate parts and chapters. It is one of the primarily classic ethical works and for hundreds of years was enormously popular, amongst both scholars and laymen.
