A beautiful complete set. Lemberg, 1868
Chamishah Chumshei Torah with three translations, commentaries by Rash"i, Siftei Chachamim and Ba’al HaTurim. And the Ohr HaChaim and Maor VaShemesh commentaries. The ‘Rishon L’Tziyon’ commentary by the author of Ohr HaChaim is added to the scrolls at the end of the chumashim. Balaban Press, Lemberg, 1868.
Early Chassidic chumash with the important Chassidic commentary ‘Maor VaShemesh’ by the Admo"r Rabbi Kalonymus Kalman Epstein, one of the greatest disciples of Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk. With an approbation by Rabbi Chaim of Sanz, author of the Divrei Chaim, in which he writes that Rabbi Aharon, son of the author of Maor VaShemesh, had asked for an approbation and the Admo"r writes that he knows for certain that this son inherited the rights to the book. The approbation was printed on a separate leaf (this leaf is damaged) at the beginning of the first section.
The ‘Ohr HaChaim’ commentary was also added to this Chumash. It is studied regularly by Chassidic communities. Before us is the first edition of the Chumash with both these commentaries together.
Extremely rare chumashim which do not appear in the National Library’s collection.
