Zhitomir at the press of the Shapiro brothers. 1856.

Previous owner signature and stamps.

Later cloth and leather spine covers, spine rubbed, Slight damp stained. A very good sound copy.

The Admor Rav Avraham Elimelech Shapira of Grodzhisk (1894-1966), son of Rav Yisrael Shapira of Grodzhisk and son-in-law of Rav Yerachmiel Moshe of Kozhnitz. Although he was a giant in Torah and Chassidus, he refused to hold an official position in the rabbinate, and left his father’s house – the Admor to whom thousands would flock- in order to make aliya to Eretz Yisrael in 5686. Only after the holocaust, when he found out of the tragedy- that his father’s entire household perished- did he agree to become Admor of the Grodzhisk Chassidim.
