Made of highly detailed cast iron set on the original wooden base.
Although this does not appear to be vicious in it's depiction of a Jew (with hooked nose, and side-curls), the purpose is for amusement at this "non-Christian", which is degrading and demeaning. Based on the style of hat and high, wide collar of the garment that is seen, this is dress of the 18th and very early 19th century.
While there are numerous anti-semitic objects in Holocaust museums that are for the desk such as inkwells and letter openers, they are typically made of brass or bronze, never iron.
We believe that this is an exceedingly rare 18th century or very early 19th century piece of anti-semitica, made from a European foundry that specialized in iron that could display such fine details in the casting. Origin could be Germany, France, or perhaps Belgium.
