The Rebbe writes of the trial & tribulations that his Chasid the Tchabiner Rac Rabbi Dov Berish Weidenfeld suffered in the Shoa, & asks for help from the America ‘Agudas Hadmorim’ to finance a suitable apartment for the rav.
”As is surely known to you the Tchbiner Rav stayed several years in Tehran, after Hashem helped his dodge the sword of the nazis, much was the plight of himself & his family until he managed to reach Israel a month ago”.
Rebbe Yisrael Friedman of Husiatyn (1858-1948), elder rebbe of the Ruzhin dynasty, last grandson of Rebbe Yisrael of Ruzhin. He succeeded his father Rebbe Mordechai Feivish as rebbe of Husiatyn in 1894. Immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1937 and settled in Tel Aviv. He is famous for his prayer at the gravesite of the Or HaChaim during WWII, where he declared that the Nazis will not succeed in conquering Eretz Israel.
